Students have started their last unit on Scaling and Transformations. This unit will include an art project.
All Quizzes and Graded Assignments are due by June 17th to be included in grading for the final report card.
Students are continuing with Polynomials. The focus is on Addition and Subtraction of Like terms this week. Quiz on Friday 10:55 online.
The Probability and Statistics Unit is drawing to a close with a major Survey project being due this Friday April 16th. Students are encouraged to contact Mr. Bencini with any questions regarding their project prior to this date.
Grade 9 Hub Students will begin the Polynomials Unit Wednesday April 14th, 2021.

Students have completed the Linear Relations Unit and will be Starting Probability and Statistics.
The Probability unit introduces Students to the concepts of Experimental Probability, Theoretical Probability, and Subjective Judgement. Further to this, students look at assumptions that influence Probability and the effects of differing types of bias.

We will be transitioning our knowledge of data and equations to the graphing of linear equations and intercepts.
Please ensure you are caught up on your slope and tables homework and your Linear Relations Graded assignment is submitted for marking.
No test this Friday.
Next week will be a new graded assignment and a test.

Welcome to Term 2.
Students will be focusing the next 3 weeks on Linear Relations
More specifically, Forming equations and making connections between graphing linear relations from raw data. Further to this, students will gain an understanding of Slope, Intercept, and the universal equation for a line y=mx+b
Their will be 2 tests and 2 graded assignments for this unit.

Students will continue with Rational Numbers this week. Lessons will be on Subtraction and Multiplication of Rational Numbers.
There will be a quiz Friday November 27th, 2020 at 10:55 am on Addition and Multiplication of Rational Numbers.
There will be a graded assignment on Addition and Multiplication of Rational Numbers due Monday November 30th, 2020.
Students have completed the Circle Geometry Unit with a final quiz on "Central Angle Inscribed Angle" This Thursday Nov 19th, 2020.
Students will begin the Rational Numbers unit (Unit 3: Math Makes Sense) This unit will run for the next 2.5 weeks of school.
New Assignments will be given starting this week (November 19th) to allow students another means of demonstrating their knowledge. These assignments will be graded with a rubric and scaled for their understandings and ability to apply what they have learned.
The Exponents Unit lessons have now been completed and we will begin Circle Geometry Tuesday Oct 27th, 2020
A cumulative test on Exponents Laws 1-5 will be on Thursday October 29th, 2020 at 10:45am. This is for ALL students.
School Conferences will be upcoming in December and will be booked online through School Conferences:

The focus this week 5 of school is to finish lessons in Exponent laws 1-5. On Friday Oct 23rd, 2020 students will have a quiz on Exponent Laws 1 and 2.
Students will be completing 2 assignments:
- Exponent Law 3 "Powers to a Power"
- Exponent Law 4 & 5 "Power of a Product & Power of a Quotient"
Please ensure you talk to your son/daughter regarding homework and assignment completion. Mathematics requires continuous effort daily to ensure the student remains caught up.
This week in Hub 9 Mathematics(Bencini) Students will be expanding their understandings of Exponents with the introduction of 5 exponent laws. There will be 2 assignments with videos to summarize, explain, expand upon this knowledge. There will be a quiz created on the Exponents Basics/Power of 10/Exponent of Zero (Previous weeks assignments) that will available on Wednesday Oct 14th, 2020 for students to complete.
As of Wed Oct 14th, 2020 Lessons will be recorded and put online each week with teacher discretion. (These lessons will be visible through Content/Recorded Lessons)

There will be 2 assignments this week attached to a series of premade videos for exponents. The preferred due date for these assignments will be Tuesday October 12th, 2020.
