My apologies for the long break between posts! The school year has been zooming past and the Drama classroom has been hopping with different projects and happenings!
**Performance Classes have completed the Orientation unit (getting to know each other and how to do this Drama thing), and an intensive Stage Combat unit (where we learned how to make realistic looking fight sequences after learning many different fight moves and terminology). Students in Grade 7 and 8 also took part in the Remembrance Day Service with a powerful and dramatic rendition of "In Flanders Fields", and a multimedia presentation that chronicled real letters from soldiers on the front lines of war.
Next Grade 7's and half of the Grade 9's will begin their study of Improvisation. The other half of the Grade 9's will work on a combination of script work and Improvisation. Grade 8 classes will be working on podcasts about Theatre Styles from around the world.
**Tech Classes have completed the Safety unit, complete with instructional videos and safety tests. They have been working diligently on Soundscape projects, and are currently working on developing lighting to support their Soundscapes. Students have been learning how to create their Soundscapes using Audacity (a sound editing program), and learning how to use our new touch screen lighting board and LED lights.
Once students have completed their Lighting and Sound projects, Gr. 7's will be working on mask creation and Grade 9's will be working on Stage Makeup!
** Film Students have been watching and responding to a variety of films, and are beginning work on their first practical project about Camera Angles/Shot Types and how those tell a story.
**Fine Arts 6 students have completed a variety of projects so far! They have created perspective drawings, graffiti versions of their names for their visual journals, drama orientation games, Remembrance Day Art (that was displayed during the Service), and are completing their Radio Plays. Stay tuned for more exciting projects ahead!
