Hi Parents. We have been very busy working on writing, math and starting a new science unit, since coming back from spring break. As well as performing in 3 music concerts this week. (The 3rdconcert was performed Friday morning for all the Div. 1 students, we got to see the Grade 5 and 6 perform their songs too).
Thank you parents (if you came) for coming to our music concert – featuring Grade 4-6 students. The students have worked hard in music class to showcase their amazing talents.
Yes- Mr. Gimbel is assigning homework !!! (on computer)
I’m hoping the students can login at home to their Google Docs.
They have writing homework to finish and EDIT their Dragon stories in Google Docs. Most students have started typing these stories, but a few have not finished typing, and then edit them. I’m asking them to get their stories finished and then read through and edit for spelling mistakes, and grammar/punctuation (capitals and periods). If parents have time to read through as well, and help edit the stories, that would be very helpful.
These stories need to be edited before I will print them for a Dragonology Book to be created in the next two weeks. The main reason for editing the stories at home, is because we don’t have time at school for editing a whole week (which is what sometimes it takes or more). We have more writing assignments we are also working on at school and will be editing these (writing fable stories).
Note: Timeline for editing the Dragon story– I will give the students a week to finish and edit these stories, so if they don’t have time on the weekend, they can edit at home during next week.

Field trip coming up!!
We require 2 parents to come with us to our Field Trip to the City of Calgary Composting Facility (tour) and Landfill (bus tour) on Thursday, April 25. This is an easy trip and only for part of the day. Leave 9:30 and return by 1:30. And – it’s FREE. If you would like to come, please send me an email. Thank you, if you have returned the forms already.
Math – we are coming to the end of our Measurement Unit (time and area). I believe we will be ready for the unit test – probably not next week but after the Easter Holiday weekend.
Science – we have started learning about Simple Machines. We will be building catapults (a lever), plus… plastic cup rollers and balloon powered cars (wheels and axles) coming up. (After Easter)
If you can start saving materials like milk/juice caps for wheels, or old CDs for wheels – or any other little round objects to be used as wheels for cars. We will discuss materials in class and watch a few videos of car making – so the students have an idea.
Any other questions – just email me.
Thanks so much
