Students have been working and reflecting on our latest inquiry question, “I wonder how changes over time have contributed to Canada’s identity?”
After our trip to Heritage Park students examined pictures of the past and researched, sketched, wrote about how change has occurred. We created a timeline in the classroom with important key dates and posted our questions and answers on the timeline to show when things were invented or brought to Alberta. We will continue to examining key dates in Alberta's history specifically.
Students continue to work on story writing. They have been listening to folktales about how an animal got its distinct characteristic. They drew and labeled different animals and are starting to write their own folktale.
We continue to work on addition and subtraction. We have started to work on word problems showing our thinking on paper and different ways to solve the problem. We have shared our answers so others can learn from our solutions!
We have been examining magnets and have been around the school and playground to see what is magnetic and what is not. Magnetic Mary taught us a lot during our in school field trip!
We finished our read aloud The Twits by Roald Dahl - it was one of our favorites. We have now started the BFG! Sophie has just been taken by the BFG and she is learning about all the people eating giants!
Please remember to dress for the weather, we do go outside in the morning and it can be chilly. Please wear running shoes as we have gym outside. Flip flops can be dangerous to run in. Remember sunscreen and bug spray as the mosquitos seem to be bad this year!
