Afternoon Kindergarten and grade 1 students finished off their swimming lessons at Trico Centre this last week. Our swimmers will be receiving a report card from their instructor that outlines progress through the progression of skills that were covered with their ability group. Future lessons at Trico Centre will be taking place at the end of January/February and will feature our morning kindergarten classes along with grade 2s and 3s. A BIG thank you to all of our volunteers who offered their time, their patience, and even their singing and dancing skills while helping out our students. Our swimming lessons would not be possible without your help so it is greatly appreciated by students and staff alike.
Meanwhile back in the gymnasium, Chaparral Students continue working in our net games module as we spend time learning the fundamentals of volleyball. Proper technique with skills like the forearm and overhead pass will be at the forefront of our lessons, while adding serving and team play into the mix.
Just Dance intramurals were added back into the schedule over the next few weeks leading up to the winter break. Last Wednesday over 120 students filled the gymnasium for 30 minutes of lunchtime dancing where all grades were invited to join in the fun. Tuesday December 12th will be the next opportunity for students to come and participate.
Warmer temperatures brought us the opportunity to open up our lunchtime equipment sign out for students at school. Those interested are asked to provide their name and teacher’s name before signing out equipment and also to politely return at the end of the lunch recess. Leadership students work hard to sign out and monitor the equipment so that our school can have more opportunities to be active throughout the day.
