Omnikin games are fun activities that can be played in PE to encourage teamwork, cooperation, and fair play, all while getting great cardiovascular exercise. Students in Kindergarten to Grade 6 have been exploring various Omnikin Games including a tag game called Poison Ball. In this game, you must try to avoid getting hit with the Omnikin balls by running, dodging or hiding behind one of the barricades in the gym. Players use a skill called 'finger dribbling' where they roll the ball across the floor to try and get closer to somebody they can tag.
Human Tracks was the next game students got to participate in and for this game, we used our bodies to create train tracks that would allow the giant pink Omnikin ball to travel safely around the gym. As the ball rolled over your body, you had to jump up and run to join the end of the train tracks.
Our last game that we explored in PE was called 'Indiana Jones'. In this exciting game, students create two circles and push the ball around the circles as quickly as possible. After going over safety instructions and having a chance to practice pushing the ball, we introduced a runner (Indiana Jones) who would try to run around the circle as well, without getting tagged by the giant ball.
