Literacy: Grade 4 teachers have determined the strong need for our writers to use writing conventions such as capitals, punctuation consistently. We are also to prepare for more focused writing as we work in depth on setting, and sentence detail, word choice as we begin our look at Alberta’s heritage.
Math: We have completed our multiplication/division unit. We will do a final review this week. Then we will begin measurement - examining time, elapsed time 24 hour clock, and area.
Science: We continue to prepare for science school as we have been learning about and practicing journal writing. Recording information will be very key in our many experiences at Telus Spark Science Center. We are presently learning about Waste and Our World examining ways we can make a difference in reducing waste and learning about renewable and non-renewable energy sources.
Social/ Art: During the first 2 weeks of January the students will be sharing their Alberta regions projects - powerpoints, brochures, posters, suitcases and the associated writing. It has been a very engaging and dynamic inquiry into our province today. They will also share the contents of their suitcase and the items we would need to pack for an adventurous journey through these regions.
