Dear Parents, Guardians, and Rm 18 Friends,
If you are reading this, it means I am up and running. I apologize for how long it took, but thank you for your patience. So here we go...
-For this upcoming week I will be using the D2L Blog to keep you connected to our classroom, but will be upgrading to Weebly once I figure that out...baby steps. I will keep you posted when the change happens and how to connect to that.
-I know it's been over a week now, but thank you to all of the parents who came out to the parent teacher conferences, or as I like to call it 'meet the creature'. We had a 100% turn out.
-Yesterday was our Terry Fox run and the kids were pumped about keeping Terry's dream alive to continue the Marathon of Hope and raising money for cancer research. We watched a short video about Terry on Thursday and then had a short discussion about Terry, cancer, research, and the importance of goals. On Friday after the run we had an assembly to see if Chaparral met its donation goals; the largest one being $1010 (the amount if each student donated a Toonie for Terry). Ask your child what happened as a result of reaching that goal. It involved a couple of staff members/pink hair/pie/pyjama day.
-This week we will continue to work on the things we've been working on the last couple of weeks. Hopefully my friends have been sharing some of those things with you. Just in case they haven't, ask them what they know about patterns, magnets, right fit books, building reading stamina, the four compass directions, and the Circle of Courage.
-Lastly, I hope everyone has been having a great weekend. I've been enjoying watching my son play in a high school volleyball tournament.
