This week we have continued our focus on eggs and Oviparous animals. We have been sketching and writing about what is inside the eggs each day and learning about other oviparous animals as well, through a powerpoint presentation. Today is day 18 with the eggs and its "Chick Lockdown". Ask your child what that means! We are hopeful that some chicks will hatch on Monday! Tomorrow, students will be discussing what is needed for the chicks once they hatch through discussions and writing.
We went on a Nature Hunt this week as well, to enjoy the nice weather. We partnered up with Ms. Midgley's class and students explored the garden, playground and field to find worms, flowers, birds and much more.
We learned/celebrated Earth Day this week. We read 4 books titles "Why should I (recycle/save energy/save water/help nature). We also created an Acrostic Poem about the EARTH and watched a video about Reusing, Reducing and Recycling. Students them wrote about the 3 R's and how we could do each of them.
I introduced new Spring Work choices this week too. Two addition games and a multiplication game, if the students are ready and want to be challenged.
We completed a Sink and Float activity today that the students did in their table groups. Each table had a tub of water and items to test. As a group we first predicted what would happen to each item and then they tested them. Students really enjoyed using corks, snap cubes, popsicle sticks, marbles, etc. to become scientists and record their findings.
