Curriculum Focus this past week:
Art: We finished our family portraits! They are all on display just outside the classroom!
Math: We continued our work on completing 2-step word problems. Students also learned a new strategy to solve math equations. They are beginning to use their understanding of doubles to solve various equations. For example, 4+5 =. Students can use their knowledge of 4+4 and then add 1 since 5 is just 1 more than 4.
Social Studies: We are beginning our unit on communities in the past. We began this week by having students think about what our community might have looked like 100 or so years ago. Some of the ideas included: dinosaurs, continents merging together, only nature and Blackfoot people.
Gym: Gymnastics was the focus in gym this week.
Next weeks sight words:
Have a great weekend!
